A Statement from Matt McLane
Managing & Interim Executive Director of Refocus Recovery
20 / March / 2024
Refocus Recovery is a dynamic Recovery Community Organization (RCO) based in Minnesota and a beacon of hope for the recovery community. Our robust support network shows dedication to empowering individuals on their recovery journey.
We offer unparalleled and comprehensive Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) training, which is not only accredited but also free. This program addresses the community’s critical need for peer services. Our training program has produced tremendous positive outcomes and has had a remarkable impact on the community.
In total, Refocus Recovery has served over 7,000 people struggling with Substance Use Disorder through peer services and provided free CPRS training for over 1,400 people.
Refocus Recovery is absolutely a separate legal and independent organization from Kyros. It outsources nearly all business functions so that Refocus Recovery can focus on our core competency of training and program delivery. Outsourcing is a standard model for medical services delivery.
Regarding Tim Sanders, he stepped down as Executive Director of Refocus Recovery on January 30, 2024, to pursue new business opportunities that required his total dedication. Tim Sanders never served as the President of Refocus Recovery. Unfortunately, the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Annual Renewal form for Minnesota Nonprofit Corporations automatically applies the title of “president” to the person listed on the form as the authorized person, with no option to change the title to the organization’s title.
Tim Sanders led Refocus Recovery with a transformative vision during his tenure, turning our organization into a beacon of hope for those battling Substance Use Disorder. His leadership enhanced our impact and strengthened community ties, ensuring the continuity and expansion of our critical work.
